Sea Kayaking, Kayaking and Canoeing
Free kayak and canoes are available to hotel guests with compliments. Oysterbed Bay is located 1.5km east of the hotel and is a magical spot to go sea kayaking. Here you will meet numerous families of curious seals and you will see herons staking their fishing territories as well as cormorants, oyster catchers and numerous other species of bird life. Sneem Hotel has direct access to the water where the free kayaks and canoes including sit ons and doubles for exploration of the bay. Goldens Cove is ideal for beginners and children as it is sheltered inlet, but also has direct access to Kenmare Bay for the more adventurous canoer.
Kenmare Bay is a windsurfer's paradise. From the windsurfer's point of view the bay has yet to be discovered. You will have it virtually to yourself, there are only a handful who use the bay, you will be extremely lucky to find company let alone a crowd. Windsurfing spots nearby include Templenoe, Tahilla Cove, Derrynane, Waterville and Ballinskelligs Bay.
Kenmare Bay Diving Centre run dives from Oysterbed Pier 1.5km east of Sneem Hotel. All the dives are done from the boat in various sites around the stunning waters of Kenmare Bay which has been one of the few places in Kerry, Ireland to be designated as a special area of conservations. The natural shelter created by the Beara peninsula and the Kerry coast, as well as the numerous islands dotted around Kenmare Bay makes the perfect location for all weather diving.
