Halloween in Sneem

Halloween Getaway in Kerry

It's THE PERBOOFECT LOCATION!

This Halloween, the colourful village of Sneem on the Ring of Kerry will come alive with folklore, firelight, and festive fun. As part of Samhain Chiarraí: A Kerry Halloween Festival running from 17 October to 9 November 2025, Sneem will host a magical programme of events that celebrates the season in true Kerry style.
On Sunday, 27 October, the Sneem Community Centre will welcome the Dingle Druid for a special Jack-O-Lantern and Samhain Mask-Making Workshop. Families can discover the old Irish custom of carving sugar-beet lanterns, long before pumpkins became the Halloween standard, and create their very own Samhain masks to take home. This event is free of charge, though advance registration is required, making it the perfect way to begin the celebrations.
Later in October, the fireside in Sneem will glow with the magic of words as renowned Kerry storyteller Seán O’Laoghaire brings the ancient traditions of Samhain to life. Known for weaving folklore, nature, and local wisdom into his tales, Seán’s sessions promise an unforgettable evening of imagination and atmosphere.
From 31 October to 2 November, Goosey Island will become the heart of Sneem’s Halloween weekend under the banner “Samhain Na Snadhma.” This gathering combines festive decorations, themed activities, and a lively community spirit that welcomes both motorhome visitors and locals. It’s a fun-filled way to round off the holiday and enjoy the warm, inclusive atmosphere Sneem is known for.
Halloween in Sneem is not just a single weekend but part of the wider Samhain Chiarraí Festival, a county-wide celebration of harvest, heritage, and folklore. Across Kerry, ancient traditions are being re-imagined with lantern parades, workshops, storytelling, and cultural events. Sneem adds its own flavour with hands-on activities, family-friendly sessions, and a cosy village charm that makes the celebrations especially memorable.
For visitors, it’s a chance to experience Halloween at its most authentic. Families will love the creative workshops and storytelling sessions designed for all ages, while the village’s setting on the Wild Atlantic Way makes it easy to combine festive fun with autumn walks, sea views, and cultural exploration.
Whether carving your first sugar-beet lantern, listening to stories by the fire, or joining the Goosey Island celebrations, Halloween in Sneem 2025 promises a magical blend of tradition, folklore, and fun. Mark your calendars for 27 October to 2 November- and come for the stories, stay for the craic.
