Weaving Tales on the Ring of Kerry: Sneem International Storytelling & Folklore Festival 2025
This November, the charming village of Sneem, nestled on the iconic Ring of Kerry, comes alive with enchantment and charisma as the 12th Annual Sneem International Storytelling & Folklore Festival returns from 6 to 9 November 2025—a weekend brimming with tales, music, magic, and a whole lot of craic.
A Storied Lineup of Voices & Voices of the Land
This year’s festival boasts a stellar cast featuring some of the most talented voices in storytelling:
International Storytellers like Cath Little, Dominic Bennett, Frances Kennedy, Maria Gillen, Paddy O’Brien, and local gem Killian Burns (Kerry) will captivate audiences with tales both ancient and fresh.
Special Guest Lecture by Dr Tomás Mac Conmara, a renowned oral historian and RTÉ contributor, delving into Irish memory, revolution, and folklore.
Vinnie Hyland offers a rare glimpse into Sneem’s natural world and its curious wildlife.
Live Music & Theatre: The majestic South Kerry Rosen Choir performs in St Michael’s Church, and Hubcap Theatre presents “Mary’s Hopes and Dreams,” a rural comedic treat.
Family-Friendly Offerings: There’s plenty here for the young (and young at heart), with children’s storytelling sessions and interactive performances catered especially to sparking imagination.
A Weekend Rich with Folklore & Festive Atmosphere
From firelit pub storytelling in Murphy’s Loft, dramatic theatre, and cultural walks through the hills, to heartfelt tales by the fire—every corner of Sneem throbs with community spirit and cultural wonder.
Whether you’ve long embraced folklore or are simply seeking an unforgettable weekend in Kerry, this festival invites you to “come for the stories, stay for the craic.”
Sneem: The Storytelling Village
Built upon centuries of tradition, Sneem is more than a setting—it’s a storyteller in its own right:
Vibrant houses, serene squares bisected by a quaint bridge, and a backdrop that has inspired filmmakers and poets alike—Sneem’s charm is woven into every tale told here.
Boundless & Bare
Known for cinema charm (it featured in The Lobster) and celebrated guests from Charles de Gaulle to George Bernard Shaw, the village is both timeless and delightfully cinematic.
Explore Beyond the Stories: Sneem is part of the breathtaking Wild Atlantic Way. Consider taking scenic walks, foraging tours, or boat trips along the Kerry coast to complement your storytelling adventure.
