Welcome to the seventh Sneem International Storytelling and Folklore Festival.
Come join in Ireland’s oldest form of entertainment with storytelling workshops and lectures from Irish and international storytellers (seanachaí) available for adults and children.
This year’s storytellers are Connie Regan-Blake from USA, Frances Kennedy and Tom Moore both from Listowel and our own Batt Burns (founder/Chairman) as well as our Young Tellers. Also, local historian John Sheehan will be lecturing on the history and stories of the Iveragh Peninsula.
This year’s Saturday play is “Silent”, presented by Fishamble: The New Play Company, written and performed by Pat Kinevane. Fishamble and Pat Kinevane won an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2016 for this play.
Patrons can look forward to adult and children’s workshops, a pub trail, storytelling in the barn, and The South Kerry Rosen Choir are back to entertain you by popular demand. Other highlights include legendary Cork singer/songwriter John Spillane who is never short of a story and our ever popular Lunchtime Theatre which this year is called ‘The Trump Scheme’, adapted from Brian Friel’s ‘The Mundy Scheme’
