Welcome to the Sneem International Storytelling and Folklore Festival. The Festival committee, headed by Sneem seanachaí, author and former teacher, Batt Burns, plans to bring top class storytellers to Sneem every year. So far we have had storytellers from USA, Northern Ireland, UK, Canada, Australia, Wales, Scotland and of course Ireland.
Sneem Storytelling & Folklore Festival: 11th-13th November 2016
Come join in Ireland’s oldest form of entertainment with storytelling workshops and lectures from Irish and international storytellers (seanachaí) available for adults and children.
This year's storytellers include Jim Maher from Kilkenny, Pat Speight and Sean O'Se from Cork, Mark Binder from USA and our own Batt Burns from Sneem. Enjoy a weekend filled with adult and children's workshops, a pub trail, a storytelling walk into the countryside, lectures and concerts.
On Friday night sample some traditional irish music and stoerytelling with a major concert with the featured tellers and renowned Cork tenor Sean O'Se. (tickets €15)
On Saturday there is "The Matchmaker" by JB Keane, directed by Michael Scott and starring John Kenny and Mary McEvoy. This hilarious dramatic comedy takes you back to a simpler time when phones were few and far between and the only web was one left behind by spiders. (tickets €20)
We also have our fabulous Young Tellers (under 16 years old) who are our seanachai of the future, come and see them they will amaze you with their stories. (tickets €5)
