Storytelling & Folklore Festival

Welcome to the eight Sneem International Storytelling and Folklore Festival. Come join in Ireland’s oldest form of entertainment with storytelling workshops and lectures from Irish and international storytellers (seanachaí) available for adults and children.

This year’s storytellers are Kate Corkery from Cork and London, Liz Weir from Northern Ireland, Batt Burns from Kerry and Singer Jimmy Crowley from Cork with guest tellers Paddy Regan, Eamon Crowley and Vincent Hyland (Kerry).

This year there are two plays on Saturday. The first is written and performed by Kate Corkery. “The sweetshop on the shore”. The feature play is developed through the show in a bag programme, supported by Fishable, The Irish Theatre institute and The Dublin Fringe Festival. “Brendan Galileo for Europe” is written and performed by Fionn Foley.

Patrons can look forward to adult and children’s workshops, a pub trail, storytelling in the barn, and The South Kerry Rosen Choir are back to entertain you by popular demand. The young Tellers will be enthralling you with their stories, John Sheehan from UCC makes a return visit, as does our popular lunchtime theatre time Sneem Dramsoc. It’s a fantastic festival that draws visitors from all over and the Sneem Hotel is the perfect base to enjoy this year’s storytelling in the colourful village of Sneem.

This year’s storytelling festival takes place on 8th – 10th of November or for more information see link below.
